. you guys know i have a brother who works for romney, one who works for obama and a father who talks about each candidate differently. the bottom line, does that change what you think about what i say? it might, but i'm confident to put out there completely what you know about my family affiliations and who i vote for. and then i from there try and be fair. i don't understand why reporters hide their sort of -- the essence of who they are. because it is by which the lens that you see things through. and i think people deserve to see that. if nobody knew this about her -- >> the fact that you voted for obama last time. >> he's voting for romney still. >> that's actually a good point. i didn't vote for him last time. and i came out and i actually wrote an op-ed saying i voted for ron paul at the end of the process. if i had figured that out in the middle of the republican primary, i would have said it in the middle of the republican primary. >> i would have preferred to know this about martha. >> i've already told people that i'm going to vote for mitt romney. just because i believe he

and listening to people go, well, the moderator didn't let barack obama talk as much as mitt romney. well, yes, he did. actually, yes, obama talked more. he just had less to say. >> just like the republicans had a rolling set of excuses for the jobs numbers, so it goes both ways. >> those are conspiracies. >> there's a difference between excuses and full-blown conspiracies. by the way, i can't wait for the readjustment of those jobs numbers. by the way, we may have been off a little bit. >> stop it. oh, stop it. i've been studying that. >> i'll bet number. >> 7.8 is just fine, thank you. the president's debate performance remained a hot topic on the sunday talk shows. former presidential candidate newt gingrich and senior obama adviser david axelrod were asked if obama should have called out romney if he thought his opponent was being dishonest. >> the president of the united states had 90 minutes. now, if he had done his homework, if he had actually prepared, if he had actually studied romney, why didn't he say it? why didn't he take romney head on? first of all, the charge on the

nuclear weapons. mitt romney talked about iran not getting a nuclear weapon capability. he's suggesting he would draw the quote unquote red line somewhere south of that. it does suggest that a slightly less tolerance for iran getting close to nuclear weapons. >> i have to admit it sounded like we weren't doing much, we meaning the united states right now, the obama administration. we've, i think, imposed extremely stiff sanctions that appear, according to informations coming out of iran, even from the value of the currency are working. >> that was an area i thought he was unfair. on the president's policy on sanctions are quite extraordinary and it's more than skeptics would've thought. i've written several books and edited them. we have gone farther with international sanctions than anybody thought possible. and they're kicking in. they're kicking in economically, and it's been falling like a rock. no pun intended. what we don't know, what impact that will have on the iranian nuclear program. >> what else can be done? i agree with mitt romney, i'm glad it's a center piece, iran i've alway

romney's level. you can't make an excuse the second time. talk about a must win. that's the flipside. >> we were saying last week that mitt romney's back was against the wall, and if mitt romney didn't stand up and deliver, the election was over. we were saying that here, and guess what? that was just the case. a lot of freakazoids on the extreme right didn't want to hear. they wanted to blame the pollsters and the media. romney had to stand up and deliver. he stood up and delivered, so we reset the campaign. guess what? the shoe is on the other foot now. if barack obama blows it again like the first debate, i aagree with donny. that creates momentum that pushing mitt romney towards the finish line. >> we focus and talk a lot -- >> by the way, now it's left wingers who are filling my twitter feed calling me a bigot and calling all of us racists because we hate black people because we're saying the truth, mitt romney won the debate. the hatred is coming from the left and there's some desperation over there because obama has to stand and deliver, and nobody can do it for him. >> we foc

. halperin was talking earlier about how mitt romney came out pretty forcefully on it, got overshadowed by other things that happened inside of the debate. but look for republicans to come back on that issue and come back at it hard. and i think that will flow into the sunday shows and continue to be a big debate. >> jim, how do you think paul ryan did, just broadly? as i said before, we haven't seen him in this big a setting with this many people watching on this big a stage. how did he acquit himself? >> i think unless you're really a paul ryan groupie, you can only say he did sort of a passable job, exactly what he need to do do. he didn't have any major screw-ups. he came detailed even on some of the foreign policy questions at the end of the day. he wasn't asked specif specific of republicans wanted him to be. he had sort of two sets of handcuffs on. one was his own limitations in debating foreign policy against someone like joe biden. and the other set of handcuffs was is he wants to wage a war of ideas. one would have gotten specific on programs you could cut, the specifics on medic
